Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Lounge Launches Planning Bid

Loungers plc, the West Country-based café/bar group, looks set to open a new Lounge restaurant in Leamington Spa.

The chain has also submitted a planning application for a series of works at the vacant premises to turn it into a restaurant.

"This application seeks full planning permission for the installation of plant and extract equipment to enable its occupation as a Loungers café/bar and restaurant," the application said. 

"No additional floorspace will be created."

More Classrooms Coming?

Plans to turn a park-side house in Leamington Spa into classrooms for teenagers with autism look set to be given the green light.

Leamington LAMP has applied for permission to change Victoria Lodge on Princes Drive from a residential home into an educational facility.

The application for the site next to Victoria Park is set to go before councillors next week, with a report recommending the scheme be given the green light.

Supermarket to Storage?

A former Aldi supermarket could be demolished to make way for a huge new storage facility.

Big Yellow Storage has applied for planning permission to demolish the former supermarket on Queensway to make way for the major new facility.

Plans submitted to Warwick District Council show the building would provide 2,530m² of permanent self-storage floor space, with the potential to expand to 7,590m² by adding demountable mezzanine levels.
