With festival season officially under way, a care home in Leamington Spa is welcoming the local community for a fun-filled evening of food and celebration.

On Thursday 6 August from 5pm–7pm, Care UK's Priors House in Blackdown will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation's shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.

Visitors to the Old Milverton Lane home can look forward to dishes from around the world prepared by the talented and diverse kitchen team, alongside a resident-favourite ice cream van. There will also be team members representing their home countries or places of interest from their lives by wearing traditional dress for the event.

Mick, resident at Priors House, said: "I am looking forward to this, especially because the ice cream van is coming again. My mother used to make nice food that I loved and I'm excited to try some tapas because I've never tried it before!"

The event is part of the 'A Taste of Home' initiative, which will see Care UK homes across the country host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Each festival will offer sustainable, community-focused activities while championing the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents' favourite recipes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Francine Summers, Home Manager at Priors House, said: "We're delighted to be hosting our very own food festival!

"We are part of a strong community here in Leamington Spa, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our love of food while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.

"The evening not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can't wait to welcome everyone through the doors."
