Leamington planning roundup: Dog walking field, Parade, Flats opposed

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Dog walking field
Plans to turn a farmer's field next to a major new housing development into a dedicated dog walking space have been given the green light by council planners.
James Mahon & Sons Ltd has been granted planning permission for the dog walking field on a two acre patch of land at the corner of Flat Rabbit Road and Banbury Road.
Signed off by Warwick District Council, the new venture will replace a piece of land used to graze sheep, next to the new Asps housing development.

Pedestrianising Parade
The views of Leamington's residents, visitors, and businesses are being sought on new concept plans to transform Parade into a traffic-free space to give the town centre a major economic and cultural boost.
The Leamington Transformation Board, made up of representatives from Warwickshire County Council, Warwick District Council, and Royal Leamington Spa Town Council, is set to open an eight-week engagement exercise on its emerging Parade Masterplan from Monday 2 June to Monday 28 July.
Part of the masterplan includes exploring options to remove vehicular traffic from Parade, to increase the number of people using the space and the time they spend there, boosting the town's economy.

Flats next to Leamington pub opposed
A proposal to build seven new apartments next to a popular pub in Leamington Spa has been rejected following strong opposition from residents and local councillors.
Punch Partnerships Ltd applied to develop a three-storey, pitched-roof apartment block on land currently used as a garden at The Fusilier pub in April 2024.
The Sydenham Drive scheme included four two-bedroom flats and three one-bedroom flats, along with balconies overlooking the canal on the north side.
