Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

New convenience store

Plans have been submitted for the conversion of a former convenience store on Leamington's Parade.

The site, formerly Morrisons Daily, which is currently vacant, could be transformed into a specialist Chinese and Asian convenience goods store, if plans are approved.

The building currently houses residential apartments on its upper two floors, accessible via a separate stairwell at the rear of the structure, which would remain as they are.

The application for the new store, Wing Yip Didi, would see a series of internal modifications on the first floor.

HarperCrewe first revealed the plans for Mallory Road in Bishop's Tachbrook in April.

The developer asked Warwick District Council whether it needed to conduct a major environmental study - an Environmental Impact Assessment - before it submitted a full planning application for the estate.

The local authority's planning team has this week said the assessment is not needed.

KFC

The KFC at Leamington Shopping Park has applied for permission to stay open until the early hours of the morning.

The drive thru eatery opened alongside Five Guys last year after months of work on site at the former Frankie and Benny's at Tachbrook Park Drive.

Currently KFC opens from 11am to 10pm seven days a week, with the drive thru open for an extra hour each day.

Asbestos roof removal

A pub chain in Leamington has submitted plans for repairs including the removal of its 'existing asbestos roof'.

If approved, the plans will see The Benjamin Satchwell, located on Parade, undergo several changes, including repairs to the current roof and existing bar, kitchen and inside seating area.

The planning application states: "The proposed works at The Benjamin Satchwell Pub are: '"sensitive and proportionate, "focused on repair", "maintenance, and operational improvement" and "designed to preserve the building's architectural and historic significance.

"The proposals will secure the continued viable use of the building while safeguarding its heritage value. As such, the development is considered to be fully compliant with heritage policy and suitable for approval."
