New music tuition hub set to open 'biggest studio yet' in Leamington

A growing music tuition company is set to open its 'biggest studio yet' in Leamington, bringing lessons for all ages and abilities to the town.
Top of the Rock Tuition, founded by musician Kris Farrell and run with his partner Becky, is set to open a new nine-room creative hub at The Polish Centre, offering drum, guitar, piano, bass and vocal lessons, alongside music production and band workshops.
The Leamington studio marks the latest expansion for the business, which began as a single drum teaching studio in Warwick in 2020.
Kris, who spent years touring with bands before launching the business, said the company had overcome significant challenges after opening just before the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I'd saved loads of money and built this studio, then opened it and a week later COVID hit," he said.
"We managed to survive by moving lessons online and just cracking on as best we could."

Since then, the business has expanded into local schools and opened additional studios in Stratford and Leeds.
The new Leamington venue will be the company's largest to date and has a total of three locations in Warwick, Leeds and Stratford, with Leamington to mark the fourth.
"It's going to be a one-stop shop for all things creative," Kris shared.
The company currently teaches around 1,000 pupils every week, with students ranging from young children to older adults.
"Children as young as five years old can come and learn the drums.
"Our oldest client is an 83-year-old gentleman who is learning bass," Kris added.
"It's genuinely all ages."
Prospective students can book a free 30-minute trial lesson in any instrument before deciding whether to continue with regular tuition or work towards gaining music grades.
For Kris, opening in Leamington, his home town, has a deeper meaning than simply expanding the business.
"This one feels really personal to me," he said. "Leamington gave me my start in music. I played loads of gigs here and built my bands through the town."
He said learning the drums also transformed his own life.

"I was on a bit of a dark path before finding drums. I had anger management issues and ADHD, and being able to play an instrument really saved my life. To now be able to give that opportunity back to other people is amazing."
He hopes the larger studio will allow even more people to discover music.
"We've got 1,000 weekly pupils now, and thinking about what this new studio can do fills me with so much joy. It's going to give so many more people that opportunity."
The studio is expected to open during the first weekend of August, coinciding with Leamington's Art in the Park festival.
Members of the public will be able to tour the new facilities, try out instruments and book free trial lessons. Top of the Rock Tuition will also have a presence at the festival, where visitors can have a go on a drum kit.
More information and free lesson bookings are available through the Top of the Rock Tuition website.
