Fresh plans revealed for vacant Leamington shop
By Nadia Sayed 10th Jul 2026
Plans have been submitted for the conversion of a former convenience store on Leamington's Parade.
The site, formerly Morrisons Daily, which is currently vacant, could be transformed into a specialist Chinese and Asian convenience goods store, if plans are approved.
The building currently houses residential apartments on its upper two floors, accessible via a separate stairwell at the rear of the structure, which would remain as they are.
The application for the new store, Wing Yip Didi, would see a series of internal modifications on the first floor.
This would involve the renovation of existing sash windows overlooking the Parade, paired with the installation of secondary glazing.

Specific changes within the premises would also see the division of the current staff meeting room to create both a smaller meeting space and a staff breakout area. The existing preparation area would be repurposed into offices for the manager and cashier.
Additional proposed modifications include the creation of new food preparation, storage, and clean store rooms, the installation of a replacement accessible toilet, the relocation of air conditioning units, and a general refurbishment and redecoration effort to align with the company's corporate standards.

The planning application states: "The proposed development will result in minimal change to the existing design and appearance of the application site, with the only perceptible change being the replacement of existing corporate signage with that of the Applicant business.
"Whilst the external door leaves will be replaced, this will be on a like-with-like basis."
