Loungers plc, the West Country-based café/bar group, looks set to open a new Lounge restaurant in Leamington Spa.

The national chain has submitted a licence application to Warwick District Council to turn a former tile showroom on The Parade into an eatery.

The application - submitted last month - shows Lounge would want to sell alcohol on site from 10am to midnight, seven days a week.

It also states normal opening hours would be 8am until 0.30am, Monday to Sunday.

The chain has also now submitted a planning application for a series of works at the vacant premises to turn it into a restaurant.

"This application seeks full planning permission for the installation of plant and extract equipment to enable its occupation as a Loungers café/bar and restaurant," the application said.

"No additional floorspace will be created."

The application claims the new site, at the corner plot, will create 30 local jobs.

It continued: "The Lounges are all uniquely designed, with an emphasis on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for families (as well as four legged friends).

"The aim of every Lounge is to tie in with local customers, so that they can make of the Lounge what they will; whether a customer wants to come in for a coffee after dropping children to school, a working lunch, or a tipple after work, Lounges can provide an environment for all these purposes.

"As well as these everyday activities, each site will be tied in with local charities and initiatives. For example, during the pandemic, a number of Lounge sites opened up to make food packages for local shelters and schools.

"Also, they will run reading groups, young mum's support groups, Christmas initiatives as well as a number of others."
