Leamington planning roundup: Five Guys, night club's future and windmill's sails

Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
Night Club's Future
New plans to turn a Leamington nightclub into student accommodation will "remove a potential bad neighbour" and help "re-imagine" the street, according to a planning application submitted to Warwick District Council (WDC).
Ni Ann Ltd has put forward fresh plans to redevelop Smack on Tavistock Street just months after seeing a previous scheme rejected by councillors.
Last year the company saw its application to demolish the venue to make way for a block of 48 student flats rejected, with WDC's planning committee deciding the the scale, mass and bulk of the new building would overdevelop the area that sits just behind The Parade.
Windmill Sails Return
Warwickshire County Council is "delighted to confirm" that work to install four new sails at Chesterton Windmill, located nearby to Chesterton and just south of Leamington Spa, has been completed.
Chesterton Windmill's sails were removed in 2021 after regular safety checks identified cracks in the wood, deeming them unsafe.
As guardians of the windmill, the county council has worked with construction and heritage consultants, Chana Projects, and the millwright specialists at Owlsworth Conservation, to restore them.
Five Guys
Locals have been given a first glimpse at what the new Five Guys at Leamington Shopping Park will look like, as the company has revealed the designs for its signage.
The fast food firm has applied for advertising consent for a series of signs at the new unit which has been built alongside a new KFC drive thru.
The two eateries have replaced a former Frankie & Benny's which was demolished last year.
