Plans for residential housing at Leamington bar resurface
By Nadia Sayed 8th Oct 2026
Plans have been submitted to transform a Leamington bar into a seven-bedroom home for students.
The proposal, which regards Moo Bar on Russell Street, comes six years after permission was granted for the same change of use back in 2020.
However, no action was taken following the approval of these plans.
According to the planning documents, if approved, the site would be transformed into residential use, creating accommodation aimed at students and young professionals.
The ground floor would be converted into seven en-suite bedrooms alongside a shared kitchen and living area.
The building's upper floors already contain two six-bedroom flats in multiple occupation, according to the design and access statement.

The proposals would also see the existing shopfront windows replaced with individual sash-style windows, designed to match those on the upper floors. New windows would also be installed at the back of the property.
The plans state: "The unit has been designed as a dwelling in multiple occupation. These types of dwellings will be marketed at young professionals and students seeking to share the cost of high-quality town centre accommodation."
There would be no dedicated parking provision as part of the development.

Moo Bar is currently open as usual.
