Plans approved for eight new self-contained flats in Leamington

Plans to convert a house in multiple occupation (HMO) into eight self-contained flats in Leamington Spa have been approved.
On 11 September, Warwick District Council granted permission for the plans, which were submitted by AA Accommodation Ltd in June this year.
The development will see 59 Russell Terrace in Leamington, which currently operates as a 22-person HMO turned into one studio flat, one, one-bed flat, five two bedroom flats and one three-bedroom flat.
No objections to the plans were made by Royal Leamington Spa Town Council, WDC Conservation, WDC Environmental Health, WDC Waste Management and WCC Highways.
Plans for the site, located south of the River Leam and Jephson Gardens also include internal reconfiguration to improve its functionality and space efficiency.
Also a communal basement lounge, intended for use as a co-working space.
The planning documents state: "The development has been carefully designed to respect the character of the building and its historic setting while significantly improving the quality and usability of both internal and external spaces."
Externally, the property would largely retain its current appearance, with planning documents noting: "The external appearance of the building will remain the same, with the exception of three minor proposed changes to the North and West elevations."
Access to the site will be maintained via both Russell Terrace and Gordon Street, with one on-site parking space proposed at the front of the property.
