Next three months of Leamington HS2 works announced: Viaduct, bridges and cuttings

HS2 has issued its winter update for all the upcoming works around Leamington.

Over the past few months HS2 has submitted numerous planning applications for local works, and announced several upcoming road closures.

And now the high speed rail developer has released its spring 2025 'construction look ahead' for Warwickshire.

Upcoming work includes:

  • A46 to close for three weeks for new bridge to be moved into place
  • Construction of Leicester Lane overbridge, including delivery of pre-cast beams and parapets
  • Construction of Coventry Road overbridge, including delivery of pre-cast beams and parapets.
  • Completing piling works to start on the River Leam viaduct. 
  • Delivering realignment of Hunningham Road throughout the year including moving electricity pylons to the north of Hunningham and divert existing gas, water and telecom utilities across the new bridge.
  • Completing earthworks to build the River Leam Embankment on the south side of the river throughout 2025
  • Completion of the Offchurch Greenway Green Overbridge structure throughout early 2025 
  • Installing drainage and adding topsoil to Offchurch Cutting until July 2025

HS2 also said there will be the "removal of the minimum number of trees and vegetation needed to safely build the railway and prepare sites for construction".
