Plans have been submitted for a new maths tuition centre in Leamington.

The application, submitted on behalf of Mathnasium, proposes converting the ground floor of Tilly Trotter's Brides on Park Street into a new maths tuition centre.

Mathnasium offers supplementary mathematics education for children aged six to sixteen.

If approved, the new Mathnasium mathematics tuition centre will be fitted out to create a waiting area, a reception and games zone at the front, and classroom teaching spaces towards the rear, along with accessible toilet facilities

The project would involve the installation of new signage to the front of the store alongside internal alterations.

According to the planning application, the proposed layout will accommodate a total of 28 student seats and seven instructor positions, spread across the classroom spaces.

The plans further state: "No more than approximately 20 to 25 students would be present at any one time.

"A wheelchair turning circle of 1,500mm diameter has also been incorporated and singleleaf accessible door sets are proposed to the WC."

Mathnasium itself was founded in 2002 and has grown into a worldwide brand with over 1,200 centres operating across 15 countries.

In the UK there are now over 30 Mathnasium centres operating, with further locations planned.

According to the plans: "The choice of Park Street is deliberate and in keeping with the Mathnasium model.

"Significant research by Mathnasium has shown that town centre locations with high footfall are essential to successful operation. Parents are asked to return at the end of their child's session rather than wait inside the centre, which means they actively use surrounding businesses during the 60 to 90 minute session..."
