1. Art in the Park

Fancy getting creative?

This weekend (1-2 August), Art in the Park returns to Leamington.

The free to attend festival will span across 1 and 2 August from 10am to 6pm at Jephson and Mill Gardens.

This year's theme is "Pathways" inviting attendees to reflect on "the winding course of fate and circumstance that has brought you here today."

Festival Director Kate Livingston shared: "In 2026 we are bringing you another packed slate, with fantastic new exhibitors alongside returning festival staples. Head to Pangaea Sculptors' Centre for their mobile sculpting studio or take the family to the Big Gobs tent to create your own puppet! We have face painting, henna tattoos, street art from Brink, DJ workshops with New Future Creatives, and the Sunday Parade returns with a HUGE surprise that shouldn't be missed!

"There are too many to list, so peruse these pages to find the perfect activity and stop by our fantastic charity and community stalls to learn about their vital work."

2. Book Extravaganza

The Book Extravaganza is heading to a new home this August, with the popular literary event taking place in Leamington this weekend.

The event is set to take place at the Royal Pump Rooms on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August.

Now well established across the Midlands, the free event brings together more than 50 stalls each day, featuring independent publishers, authors, bookshops, antiquarian booksellers, creators and artists as well as a wide range of book-inspired gifts and stationery.

Visitors are encouraged to make a weekend of it, as many of the authors, exhibitors and traders will differ from one day to the next, offering plenty of new discoveries on both Saturday and Sunday.

A special highlight on 1 August will be an appearance by actor Melvyn Hayes, who will be signing copies of his autobiography and meeting visitors.

Best known for playing Gunner "Gloria" Beaumont in the classic BBC sitcom It Ain't Half Hot Mum, Hayes has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning television, film and theatre.

3. Art exhibition

On the theme of creativity, the Work in Progress photography exhibition continues at Leamington's All Saints Parish Church.

Organisers shared: "If you like putting a round peg into a square hole, take a look at how a dozen photographers each interpret those and a number of other subjects.

"That was the challenge set for the Take Twelve display which forms the intriguing central display at 'Work in Progress' – the annual exhibition by members of Leamington Spa Photographic Society's Style Group."

Style Group co-ordinator Stefan Shillington observed: "What began as the Take Ten challenge has now become Take Twelve, thanks to its popularity among both group members and exhibition visitors.

"But although that is a central part of our annual exhibition, the individual panels give members their own space to mount cohesive collections of work in the way they want it displayed, without outside curation.

"And that results in varying display styles and an eclectic range of subjects, from close-ups of rock formations on a Northumberland beach to sweeping night skies, and from home-studio flower portraits to international travel.

The exhibition runs until 2 August.
