Month-long repairs for historic bridge after latest crash

An historic local bridge is closed again for repairs following another crash.
Offchurch Bridge on Welsh Road is shut for repairs until November 18, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) has confirmed.
The grade II listed bridge was damaged yet again in a crash earlier this year, with damage caused to the parapets on both sides.
The county council was granted planning permission earlier this month for the repairs.
"This structure has previously been hit and repaired in the same manner, given the nature of the structure it would have been hit and repaired many times over its life span," WCC said.
Works will see five metres of sandstone repairs on the south-west side, and seven metres repaired on the other.
The county council's website says the bridge is closed completely during the works.
Signing off on the repairs, a Warwick District Council report said: "It is considered that the proposed works are acceptable, being remedial in nature and aiming to promote the longevity of the historic bridge as a whole.
"It is considered that the visual impact of the works will be low, through the use of sensitive, matching materials and that the works are in the interest of public safety, with existing historic fabric to be retained, resulting in a neutral impact overall on both the heritage asset and the wider conservation area."
