Liberal Democrats, the main opposition group to the Reform-led Warwickshire County Council, are calling for changes to the proposed flag policy.

This afternoon, members of the Liberal Democrats called for greater transparency and accountability, and to ensure that the Government's guidance on flag flying is adhered to.

The decision follows on from the public row that erupted at the end of June when Cllr Finch asked the council's chief executive, Monica Fogaarty, to remove the Progress Pride flag that had been flying for Pride month.

Cllr Jerry Roodhouse, leader of the Lib Dems at WCC, said: "We need to ensure organisations get a fair open and accountable way of applying for their flag to be flown.

"I am concerned that, as proposed, the Ukraine flag may not be flown and, as outlined in the government guidance, I want to see that the Pride flag can be flown.

"The Chairman of the Council should state clearly why he would not fly a flag in an open letter nor follow the government guidance."
