Hundreds of runners commenced the eighth Leamington Spa Half Marathon this morning (15 June), setting off from the Royal Pump Room Gardens at a delayed time (of ten minutes) at 8.40am due to an unexpected van on the course.

This year's charity partner was Warwickshire-based Safeline, which specialises in the prevention of sexual abuse and support for affected individuals.

Participants had the option to enter the race free of charge by committing to raising £100 for the charity.

Before crossing the start line, many runners participated in a group warmup session.

After a countdown from ten, the participants embarked on a scenic route, heading north from the town, passing through picturesque Warwickshire villages, farmland, and countryside before returning to Royal Pump Room Gardens, where the race concluded.

Due to high demand, online registration for this year's run was extended from its original closing date of Wednesday, 11 June, to Friday, 13 June.

Thomas Flavell & Sons Solicitors, a Leamington-based firm, returned as the headline sponsors for the second consecutive year.

The firm fielded a team consisting of both staff and clients.

Jamie Connolly, the Managing Director of Thomas Flavell & Sons, remarked: "We are extremely pleased to be sponsoring the run for the second time in 2025.

"Last year's event was fantastic, with a great atmosphere and many spectators cheering on the runners."

The Royal Pump Room Gardens served as the #LeamHalf Event Village, located a short distance from the start and finish lines, as well as the Event HQ and the children's zone.

Safeline also organised the Kids Mile, a complimentary Kids Fun Run that began and ended next to the adult finish line, awarding every child participant with a medal.

Organised by Raceways, the event witnessed numerous locals lining up by the finish line, showing their support.

Finishers were awarded medals, with an option to receive a t-shirt to minimise landfill waste.

Participants were given the option to receive chip timing, post-race snacks, and the opportunity to purchase race photography.

Several roads in the area will be closed between approximately 6am to 2pm.

A comprehensive list of affected streets can be found here.
