A well-loved cafe in Leamington has announced it will be closing at the end of the month (April).

Lola cafe, run by Katie Jensen and her partner James, moved from its initial spot on Augusta Place to Regent Street late last year (2025).

After less than a year at its new location, the cafe is sadly closing.

In an emotional video, Katie shared the closure is due to the fact running Lola is no longer viable for the her and her family, despite their best efforts to keep things going.

Katie said: "'I'm going to try and get through this video without crying to have to forgive me if I do.

"Despite our best efforts and best intentions. Lola will be closing at the end of April..."

Fuelled by local support, over 350 community members donated to help fund the cafe's move, with many choosing rewards such as coffees, wine boxes or having their name painted on the wall.

As the final touch to the refurbishment, local muralist, Emily Marlowe, aka Mama Murals, was commissioned to create a bespoke mural reflecting the story behind Lola.

The mural tells the personal journey of Katie and James, beginning in Manchester where their story started as a natural wine company and then continuing to Warwickshire, where their family and Lola café have grown side by side.

"We really tried to make this work, and we have loved having you coming through our doors, it is no longer viable for us and our family, and I have to draw a line somewhere" said Katie.

In the same video, shared on Facebook, Katie highlighted that the cafe will be available for somebody looking for a turn key business.

Everything in the building except the coffee machine and the coffee equipment will also be available in a very small sale.

She expressed: "This is for somebody who is ready and wants to start trading in the next couple of months. We have a wonderful premises. We have a wonderful landlord, and it could be a really brilliant business for someone who has the time to put it in."

Lola will remain open as usual this week and next, while the business begins the process of being sold.
