A member of the Warwick District Council cabinet has stepped down.

Cllr Helen Adkins has resigned from her position as a district councillor representing the Warwick District Council Leamington Clarendon ward.

In response to the resignation, Cllr Jessica Melrose has agreed to assume the role of Housing Portfolio Holder alongside her current responsibilities as an interim measure.

Constituents with ward-related inquiries are advised to contact either Cllr Chris King or Cllr Jessica Melrose.

Adkins, elected to represent the Leamington Clarendon ward in May 2024, resides in Leamington and holds a 20-year career in teaching, primarily in further education.

She also serves as the coordinator for SEND (Special Needs and Disabilities) Crisis Warwickshire.

Previously, Adkins was the Labour group leader on Warwickshire County Council until 2021.
