£2.5m could be invested in Leamington town centre changes

£2.5 million could be ring-fenced for schemes across Leamington town centre to create "vibrant, safe and healthy communities".
Warwick District Council's (WDC) cabinet will tonight (July 9) discuss the funding which could support the next three years of developments around the Parade, Bath Street and High Street.
If approved, the significant spend would come from the council's CIL budget - money raised from developers across the area.
The Leamington Transformation Board is currently consulting residents on plans to reimagine the town centre which could ultimately see the Parade pedestrianised.
"Creating vibrant, safe and healthy communities of the future – the future of Leamington town centre is central to the district's future and this transformation work is leading the way in ensuring our communities are vibrant, safe and healthy," a council report said.
"The proposals focus on brownfield land, and in effect enhancing the town centre as a 20-minute neighbourhood all of which are policy commitments of the Corporate Strategy."
The report also said the major developments in the town would "put health and wellbeing at the centre of life in Leamington; bring the 21st century spa town to life with businesses thriving; and restore its place as one of England's finest town centres and Parade, one of its finest streets".
Over 2,000 responses have already been received to the consultation.
