An abandoned dog has been found 'highly stressed' and 'overheated' at a garden in Leamington.

Police are searching for the owner of the dog, which was located 'in the blistering heat' at Christ Church Gardens earlier today (7 July).

A member of the public brought the dog to the police station, where officers provided him with water to help cool him down.

The dog has now been transferred into the care of the Warwick District Council dog warden for further treatment.

Leamington Police shared: "Understandably, he is highly stressed, overheated, and frightened. Leaving any animal in these conditions is completely unacceptable."
