A Leamington bus shelter could see an upgrade, including new digital displays and advertising.

Plans have been submitted for the improvement of a bus shelter on Sydenham Drive in the town.

If approved, the bus shelter would see an upgrade from its existing double sided six sheet advertising panels to double sided six sheet digital panels "forming an integral part of the bus shelter."

The digital panels would display a sequence of static advertising images that will change no more frequently than every 10 seconds.

The plans come as part Trueform, council's a 10-year contract for the maintenance, refurbishment and cleaning of its bus shelters, awarded by the County Council.

According to the planning application status: "This major work across the borough will provide passengers with a better waiting environment and help increase bus ridership, bringing a significant focus on benefits to residents and sustainability impact."

In the Environmental Impact Assessment, positive outcomes of the new designs were stated, including the fact " existing shelters will be upgraded with the most sustainable solution," "The digital screen size is smaller than existing 6 sheet poster leading to less light dispersion," and the shelters are "Environmentally friendly cleaning products and harvested rainwater utilised, saving on mains resources."
