A hotel in Leamington, previously used to home asylum seekers, has officially closed.

The Home Office listed Leamington's Episode Hotel, located on Upper Holly Walk, as one of 20 to have closed.

It comes as part of "the Government's commitment to reducing the cost of the asylum system and ending the use of hotels by 2029."

According to a report shared by the Home Affairs Committee, as of June 2025, the Home Office was responsible for accommodating around 103,000 people.

The number of asylum seekers in hotels is currently significantly lower than during the peak of hotel use which was 32,059 people as of June 2025, compared to 56,042 in September 2023.

The report also states "the number of asylum seekers accommodated in hotels was eight percent higher in June 2025 compared to June 2024."
