Opening of Leamington Spa Art Gallery’s new exhibition postponed following its 'temporary closure'

Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum has postponed the opening of its highly anticipated new exhibition.
The free exhibition, 'A Different View: Women Artists in the collection,' which runs until 14 September, was scheduled to begin today (30 May).
The postponement follows adverse weather conditions which impacted ongoing roof repair works at the Royal Pump Rooms, where the gallery is located.
As a result, on Wednesday, 28 May, the museum and gallery announced a "temporary closure as a precautionary measure to safeguard the artworks and ensure the safety of both visitors and staff."
Despite hopes that the exhibition would go ahead as planned, the opening has now been postponed.
In an Instagram post shared today, the gallery stated: "Unfortunately, the opening of our newest exhibition, A Different View: Women Artists in the Collection, has been postponed…
"Please rest assured, the exhibition will open soon!
"We will provide more updates as soon as possible and we sincerely appreciate your patience."
The exhibition showcases the work of over fifty painters, sculptors, and photographers, tracing the story of women artists in Britain through the gallery's collection.
It is described as: "Presenting historical, modern and contemporary artworks across a wide range of themes, the exhibition explores what was possible for these artists from the late Victorian period onwards and charts the long and difficult route to professionalism."
