New raised pedestrian crossings on busy Leamington road now completed
By Nadia Sayed 9th Feb 2026
A new crossing point upgrade on a busy Leamington road has been completed.
The crossing on Avenue Road now has a safer, easier route across the busy A452 to reach the town centre.
The plans were first revealed back in June (2025) by Warwickshire County Council.
They were proposed to bolster pedestrian safety by installing two raised tables with pedestrian refuges.
This is the third of the local crossing points improved in recent works.
In the statement of reasons for the plans, WCC said: "The measures were recommended following a Road Safety Audit.
"The raised humps will help improve the environment for residents, pedestrians and cyclists by restricting vehicle speeds and improving road safety.
"They will also improve access from existing student accommodation at the back of Station Approach in Leamington Town Centre.
"The pedestrian refuges located in the middle of the raised humps will be used by pedestrians so that they can cross Avenue Road (east of its junction with Station Approach) and Adelaide Road safely in two halves, avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road at all times."
The project was pushed forward by local Cllr Jonathan Chilvers, the chair of Leamington Society Ignaty Dyakov-Richmond, and Warwickshire County Council.
