Plans to update the shop sign at a Mexican eatery on Bedford Street in Leamington have been approved.

Permission has been granted to change the current signage at Sombrero Mexican Food, a Grade II listed building within the town's conservation area.

The plans regard a new painted timber fascia with individually illuminated letters, along with a traditional projecting hanging sign. The design avoids large illuminated panels or digital displays, instead using low-intensity lighting to maintain the building's historic character.

In its delegated report, the council approved the plans on 14 May 2026, concluding: "It is considered that the amended signage and choice of colours to repaint the existing shopfront would both preserve and enhance the character and appearance of the listed building and the wider conservation area.

"It is therefore recommended that listed building consent is granted."
