A man has been sentenced following a police raid on a cannabis factory in Lillington, Leamington, earlier this year.

In February, officers from Leamington North Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) executed a warrant at a property in Lillington, uncovering a large-scale cannabis cultivation setup.

One male was arrested at the scene.

On Sunday, 16 June, Gerrard Byrne, 55, of no fixed abode, appeared at Coventry Crown Court where he was sentenced for two offences: being concerned in the production of a Class B controlled drug (cannabis) and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

Byrne was handed a Community Order requiring him to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, undergo drug rehabilitation, and remain under probation supervision.

A Closure Order was placed on the Lillington property following the raid.

Warwick District Council is now seeking a possession order for the premises, with a court date expected in due course.
