Leamington students’ poignant remembrance garden earns spot at BBC Gardeners' World Live show

A group of secondary school students from a Leamington School have secured a spot at the BBC Gardeners' World Live show, taking place at the NEC in Birmingham, which begins tomorrow (Thursday 12 June) and runs until Saturday (15 June).
Students from Leamington Spa's Trinity Catholic School's history research group will be exhibiting in The Bud and Blossom with their 'Reflection Garden' to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the liberation of Auschwitz and the end of World War Two.
The students are currently running a fundraiser on JustGiving to help bring their vision to life and have already met over half of their target (£6000).
They shared: " We are a dedicated group of students and staff at Trinity Catholic School, united by our passion for gardening and community.
"Together, we have envisioned a memorial garden that has been honoured with the opportunity to be showcased in the prestigious BBC Gardeners' World Live Beautiful Borders Competition.
"This year holds significant historical importance, marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz and the conclusion of the Second World War.
"Our garden aims to cultivate connections between generations, our community, and the natural world around us.
"We believe that this multi-sensory sanctuary will serve as a place for reflection on our past while inspiring hope for a better future."
"Your generous donations will help us create a space where individuals can come together in remembrance and growth."
You can find the JustGiving page here.
The garden is set to be donated to the '45 Aid Society,' a charity which was established in 1963 by a group of child Holocaust survivors, known as 'The Boys', who were brought to Great Britain after the end of the Second World War.
The design of the garden featured memorial tags where visitors can add names of loved ones and remember them along with mason jars, which will contain hand-drawn flowers and candles, as a sign of remembrance and hope for the future."
Also in the garden will be triangles to represent the Holy Trinity of the school's origin, and mosaic hands made from broken fragments to symbolise healing and shared trauma.
Each component contributes to a peaceful garden space that encourages remembrance, community, healing, and personal reflection, commemorating the end of World War Two and the 80 anniversaries since then.
