A group of secondary school students from a Leamington School have won a gold award for their entry into the BBC Gardeners' World Live show, which began yesterday (Thursday, 12 June).

Students from Leamington Spa's Trinity Catholic School's history research group exhibited in The Bud and Blossom with their 'Reflection Garden' to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the liberation of Auschwitz and the end of World War Two.

The school shared: "We are delighted to share with you all that our entry into Gardener's World Live won a GOLD award!"

The students raised a total of over half of their target, raising £3,085, through a JustGiving page, which aimed to support bringing the vision of the garden to life.

Sharing their story on the page, the students wrote: "We are a dedicated group of students and staff at Trinity Catholic School, united by our passion for gardening and community.

"Together, we have envisioned a memorial garden that has been honoured with the opportunity to be showcased in the prestigious BBC Gardeners' World Live Beautiful Borders Competition.

"This year holds significant historical importance, marking 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz and the conclusion of the Second World War.

"Our garden aims to cultivate connections between generations, our community, and the natural world around us.

"We believe that this multi-sensory sanctuary will serve as a place for reflection on our past while inspiring hope for a better future."

The garden is set to be donated to the '45 Aid Society,' a charity which was established in 1963 by a group of child Holocaust survivors, known as 'The Boys', who were brought to Great Britain after the end of the Second World War.

The NEC show will run until Saturday (15 June).
