Pupils at a primary school in Leamington unleashed their creativity in an art competition sponsored by a local housebuilder.

Bellway, which is building at its nearby Priors Meadow development in the town, challenged children at Whitnash Primary School to draw their dream pets and let their imaginations run wild.

Three winners were chosen from more than 50 entries, with pupils Elsie, Esme and Jacob receiving book vouchers courtesy of Bellway during a special assembly at the school.

Their winning artwork will be displayed inside the showhome at Priors Meadow over the summer.

Angela Nurse, sales manager at Bellway West Midlands, said: "It's been fantastic to see the talent and creativity of the children. Deciding on the winners wasn't an easy task with so many wonderful designs, but our top three showed colour, creativity and lots of imagination. We'll display the winning entries at our showhome with pride.

"At Bellway we're always looking for opportunities to engage with the local community and working with schools like Whitnash Primary is an important part of this. We're glad to have formed a relationship with the school and would love to work with them again in the future."

Mirren Smith, Reception teacher at the school, added: "We were delighted to work with Bellway on the Dream Pet Portrait competition. It provided a wonderful opportunity for children to express their creativity and imagination through art. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking part, producing a fantastic range of colourful and imaginative pet portraits.

"The winning children were thrilled to receive book tokens in recognition of their efforts, and all participants felt incredibly proud of their work. Experiences like this not only celebrate artistic talent but also inspire a love of creativity and self-expression from an early age.
