Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.

Pool Delayed

Despite hopes it would reopen yesterday (24 July) Leamington's paddling pool is not expected to open until the end of the month.

A date for the reopening of the Victoria Park park pool, which has been closed since 2024, was expected this week.

The council has now confirmed the works taking place at the pool are expected to be completed by the end of July,

New Miami-style burger eatery

A new burger eatery has opened in Leamington this week (23 July).

SoBe Burger opened its doors on Warwick Street.

To celebrate its launch, the eatery announced it would be giving away 100 free cheeseburgers to the first 100 guests alongside a live DJ all evening.

Leamington restaurant to become residential housing

A Leamington restaurant is set to be converted back into residential housing after plans received prior approval.

The proposal will see Elma Restaurant, located at Augusta Place, transformed into two, two-bedroom homes.

Planning documents state that the scheme will convert the existing restaurant building, including the upstairs dining areas, staff rooms and toilets, back into residential use.

No changes will be made to the building's external appearance.

HS2 works

Works on a busy road in Southam are set to begin next month (August).

HS2 works will take place on B4451, Kineton Road, Southam on Saturday 1 August and Sunday 2 August from 7am to 5pm.

Work will be taking place close to the highway including on the road and verges.
