Leamington planning roundup: secret talks, new apartment block and green light for furniture firm
By Nadia Sayed 14th Mar 2026
Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past week.
'Secretive' Office Talks
Warwickshire County Council has defended its secrecy around plans for its costly disused office block in Warwick as avoiding "unnecessary concern or speculation".
The county council's vacated Barrack Street office block is costing more than £265,000 per year in business rates, heating, electricity and staff costs related to preventing further deterioration.
Part of the headache is that the multi-storey car park that sits underneath it is used by staff, councillors and some visitors to Shire Hall.
Eight-unit apartment block plans
A planning application for a residential apartment block in Leamington Spa has been submitted.
The application submitted by Shaftesbury Design Practice, includes an apartment block of eight self-contained units, each with two bedrooms.
3. Furniture firm gets green light for new depot
A local outdoor furniture has been handed a boost by councillors who have granted planning permission for it to redevelop its depot between Kenilworth and Leamington Spa.
Woodberry Outdoor Furniture has been given the green light for the works by Warwick District Council's planning committee.
