Leamington has been named as one of the four locations with hubs available for those seeking sexual health services.

With this week marking Sexual Health Awareness Week (14 to 20 September) individuals are being encouraged to gain support with hubs also located in Nuneaton, Rugby and Coventry.

The theme for the week is 'Let's Connect', which focuses on building healthy relationships, improving communication and reducing stigma around accessing sexual health services.

All the location hubs have a walk-in and pre-booked appointments available and appointments can be made at any of the hubs by calling 0300 247 0069.

It comes at a time where STI diagnoses have fallen nationally. However, health professionals continue to encourage regular testing and early intervention, particularly among groups at higher risk.

National data shows that overall new STI diagnoses decreased by 8.3 percent between 2024 and 2025, while diagnoses of gonorrhoea, chlamydia and infectious syphilis also declined.

Cllr Anne Marie Sonko, Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care and Health said: "Sexual Health doesn't have to be hidden, the main aim of this year's theme is to have open conversations and challenge stigmas around sexual health. By doing this everyone will feel confident accessing the relevant information and services they need."

She added: "Whether it's accessing contraception, ordering a free STI test or about relationships, support is available and confidential."

With Fresher's Week starting at the end of September, students in particular, are being asked to use condoms to prevent STIs like gonorrhoea and syphilis, which remain high despite recent declines.

Testing is free and confidential, and open communication about condom use is encouraged.

The Coventry & Warwickshire Sexual Health Hub, commissioned by Warwickshire County Council and Coventry City Council offers a range of testing and treatment services for sexually transmitted infections including HIV. Please visit the website here.

The Hub also provides sexual health advice, contraception services (including emergency contraception), and a condom distribution scheme. HCRG Care Group is working to improve outreach and engage with communities and have also integrated the online services of SH:24 to provide a comprehensive offer in one place for those looking for support.
