Halifax bank to close its Leamington branch
By Nadia Sayed 16th Jun 2026
A bank branch has announced several closures including its Leamington site, citing a significant shift in customer banking habits towards digital services.
The Halifax branch on Parade is set to close on 20 October 2026, according to a closure notice issued by the bank.
Halifax said the decision followed a review of how customers access banking services, with most now using mobile banking, online banking or telephone services rather than visiting a physical branch.
In the closure notice Halifax shared: "We regularly review how our customers choose to bank with us. And, with most now using our app, online services or phone banking, we're closing our Leamington Spa branch.
"We understand this may affect you. So, we've included other ways you can bank with us on the following pages - and the support available to you."
The closure will leave customers without a Halifax branch in the town centre, although the bank says alternative services will remain available nearby.
Customers will be able to use the nearby Lloyds branch at 73 Parade, Leamington Spa, which offers counter services, cash machines and self-service banking facilities.
A Banking Hub in Warwick, operated through the Post Office network, is also available for everyday banking transactions, including cash deposits and withdrawals.
According to figures published by Halifax, 451 customers used the branch regularly each month, having conducted transactions at the counter or Immediate Deposit Machine in at least four of the six months leading up to February 2026.
The bank's data shows that 69 percent of customers who use the Leamington Spa branch have also used other Halifax branches, online banking services or telephone banking within the previous six months. Halifax also reported that 21 percent of customers have used another Halifax branch during the past year, while 22 percent have used both the branch and Post Office banking services.
Halifax said it had considered a range of factors before reaching its decision, including customer behaviour, transport links, broadband availability and the impact on vulnerable customers.
The bank added that support would be available for customers who need help switching to digital banking, including one-to-one assistance through its Digital Helpline and accessibility services for customers with disabilities or additional support needs.
