The Diwali light event, once again illuminated Leamington, as the community comes together to celebrate the Festival of Light for the 33rd year.

The light switch-on took place over the weekend (12 October) and saw locals gather on Parade, from 6pm. 

Members of the Indian community came together with people of all faiths in a harmonious celebration of unity and cultural diversity to mark the start of the Diwali festivities.

Diwali symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance, and is observed all over the world by the Indian diaspora.

Mayor of Leamington Spa, Cllr Ruggy Singh said: "Thank you to everyone for being here today.

"With everything that is going on in the world, globally and nationally, let's show everyone what Leamington Spa is really about and how culturally diverse we are in this multi-cultural world."

The event was organised in partnership with CJ's Events Warwickshire and Warwick District Council.

The lights were switched on by the Chairman of Warwick District Council, Cllr Naveen Tangri, and other community representatives at 7pm.

There were several performances throughout the evening including an energetic Dhol Tasha performance and Bollywood songs and dance.

This year, Diwali will officially begin on Monday 20 October 2025.
