Here is a round up of the planning stories from this month (December 2025).
Leamington Parade plans progress
A concept masterplan to revitalise Leamington Spa's Parade has received high levels of support from local residents and people working in or around the town centre.
The Leamington Transformation Board, which is made up of representatives of the town, district and county councils, created an emerging Parade Masterplan before Warwickshire County Council surveyed the public, businesses and organisations across eight weeks in the summer for their views.
And after more than 3,100 responses to that exercise were analysed – a very high number compared to similar surveys - 76 percent of respondents either agreed or strongly agreed with the masterplan.
The concept masterplan was created following months of engagement with local stakeholders, businesses and residents, and proposes concepts on how Parade can be improved for residents, workers, and visitors to the town.

Plans for 750 new homes announced
A planning application was submitted for 750 new homes between Warwick and Leamington Spa.
Bryer Estates Limited applied for permission for the major new development on the land at Park Farm, off Banbury Road.
If approved, the scheme would also see a primary school, shop, community hall and public open space built.
The land borders the Asps housing development which is already being built.
"The proposed development at Park Farm, Banbury Road represents an opportunity to deliver a high quality, sustainable, and landscape-led community on the southern edge of Warwick," the application to Warwick District Council said.
"The scheme responds sensitively to its setting, integrates with existing and planned development, and supports the strategic objectives of the emerging South Warwickshire Local Plan."

Former Aldi demolished to make way for Big Yellow Storage
The former Aldi supermarket on Queensway has been demolished to make way for a huge new storage facility.
The supermarket site was flattened last week after Warwick District Council granted planning permission for the works.
The site will eventually see a Big Yellow Storage with 7,590m² of storage space constructed.
Aldi's former Queensway site has been vacant since the discount retailer built a new store just down the road.
Approving the plans earlier this year, a Warwick District Council report said: "The principle of the development is considered acceptable and the proposal would not result in any significant harm to the character of the area, residential amenity, highway safety, ecology or flood risk."

New plans revealed as former Covid-19 'mega lab' sits empty
Plans to alter the use of the former Covid-19 'mega lab' at Precision Park have been submitted to Warwick District Council.
The Rosalind Franklin Laboratory has sat empty since March 2024 when it ceased to be a mass testing laboratory.
The Harrison Way building has been on the market since but there have been no takers, and now UK Commercial Property Estates Holdings Ltd wants to alter the change of use for the building to make it easier to find a buyer.
Currently the unit is registered as a 'very high throughput laboratory'. It could be changed to a 'general industrial' building with use of 'distribution' and 'research and development' if plans are signed off by the council.
