A Leamington pub has announced it will be closing next month due to the increasing general cost of running the pub making it "impossible" for it "to continue."

The Cricketers, located on Archery Road in Leamington, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, announcing the pub's final day will be 10 October 2026.

Citing the reasons for closing, the team said: "After a huge amount of thought and consideration, the rising costs of rent, stock, VAT and the general cost of running a pub have unfortunately made it impossible for us to continue."

They also shared a thank you message to their customers: "Thank you to every regular, every familiar face, every person who popped in for a pint, watched the football, enjoyed a meal, joined us for a quiz, celebrated a birthday, attended an event, brought their friends, or simply called The Cricketers their local.

"Over the years, you've given this place its character. The laughs, the stories, the celebrations, the arguments over the football, the questionable karaoke and the countless pints shared at the bar — those are the things we'll remember."

To mark The Cricketers last day in business, it will be hosting an evening where guests can have one last drink "and to give The Cricketers the send-off it deserves."

The team added: "From all of us at The Cricketers — thank you for the memories, the support and for making this place what it was.
