Road closure details have been released ahead of the Tour of Britain's visit to Warwickshire.

The major cycling event will head to the county on Friday 5 September, taking the riders all the way from Atherstone in the north to Burton Dassett in the south.

The 116.2 mile route will get underway at 10.30am and will finish with a circuit around Burton Dassett Hills Country Park.

Warwickshire County Council has confirmed there will be lengthy road closures for some sections of the route, as well as a rolling road closure 10 to 15 minutes ahead of the race indicated by police escort vehicles.

In the south of the county the following road closures will be in place on 5 September: 

• Village Road (Burton Dassett) 0.01am - 4pm
• Dassett Road, Burton Hills Road (Burton Dassett) 5am - 6pm
• Banbury Road (Burton Dassett) 1.30pm - 3.30pm
• Dassett Road and Banbury Road (Avon Dassett) 1.30pm - 3.30pm
• 13:30 – 15:30

Parking restrictions will be in place on the following roads, effective from the night before (4 September) until the event has completed:

• Edge Hill Lane (Edge Hill)

The riders are expected to reach Cubbington any time from 12.30pm to 1pm, with the first circuit expected to start between 2.15pm and 3pm.
