Residents in East Whitnash have been given more time to comment on a proposed environmental permit that would allow trade effluent to be discharged into Whitnash Brook.

The application, submitted by Bellway Homes, is currently being reviewed by the Environment Agency.

Following these concerns, the Environment Agency's National Operations office has confirmed that the public consultation deadline has been extended to Thursday 19 March 2026.

This is an extension of the initial deadline which was set for 2 March.

Further extensions may be considered if required.

The permit application relates to the discharge of trade effluent of 2,462 Cubic metres per day, in Whitnash Brook, just above the nature reserve in Sydenham.

Residents and local representatives including MP for Warwick and Leamington Matt Western, have been campaigning against the application, citing environmental concerns.

The extension will allow more people to review the application and submit their views.
