Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and town wardens are patrolling Leamington Spa with metal detectors as part of proactive knife detection sweeps across local parks and surrounding areas.

The initiative aims to help ensure the safety of residents and is part of a wider campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of knife crime during this week, for Knife Crime Awareness Week.

As well as conducting these sweeps, officers are working to educate individuals—particularly young people—about the serious consequences of carrying knives.

In a post shared on Facebook, Leamington Police stated: "Save a life, surrender a knife.

"If you don't take a knife out with you, then you can't use it.

"Remember, knives take lives."
