Plans have been submitted to turn a former care home in Leamington into a new primary school.

The proposed school would be developed on the site of the former Chestnut Lodge care home on Warwick Road.

According to the plans, the school would accommodate a maximum of 35 pupils aged between five and eleven.

The site would be accessed via the existing entrance off Warwick New Road, with many pupils expected to travel to and from the school by minibus.

Planning documents state this would "reduce the number of vehicular movements each day".

A wheelchair ramp is also proposed at the front and rear of the site to "improve accessibility to both the community centre, and its garden".

In 1999, the site, which was operating as a nursing home at the time, was granted planning permission to be converted into a five-bedroom home.

However, the approved plans were never implemented.
