Historic Leamington office building to be turned into home
By Nadia Sayed 19th Aug 2026
A historic Leamington building is set to be given a new lease of life as a home, after plans were submitted to turn the former office back into a residential property.
The building, which dates back to 1840, was originally built as a home and remained in residential use for most of its history.
It was later used as an off-licence and house before being converted into offices.
Now, plans have been granted for the site to be converted back into a single dwelling.

The plans state works would involve relatively limited changes to the Victorian building, with the focus on restoring its original character.
A modern, single-storey flat-roof extension at the rear would be demolished to create a garden and outdoor space.
The application describes the extension as a later addition which does not fit with the original building and states its removal would improve both the property and the wider conservation area.
The application further states the proposals will retain the building's historic character while bringing it back into residential use.

The plans state: "This is a modern addition to the building and its removal would not be detrimental to the character of the property or the wider conservation area."
Two parking spaces are already provided at the rear of the property, with four additional on-street spaces available on Highfield Terrace.
The proposal attracted no objections from Royal Leamington Spa Town Council, Warwickshire County Council Ecology or Warwick District Council's Conservation team.
