Nine new homes in Whitnash get the green light

Nine new homes have been approved for Whitnash.
Planning permission was granted for the demolition of existing commercial buildings at on Heathcote Road and for them to be changed to residential homes.
Castle Homes Estates Ltd submitted the application back in 2024 with plans to remodel the existing homes will include extensions.
The new homes will consist of four, three bedroom, two storey homes, four two-bedroom homes, and one one bedroom flat over a garage unit.

The site lies within a predominantly residential area and adjoins the Whitnash Sports and Social Club to the west, where it sits adjacent to the site's existing commercial uses.
In response to the plans, Whitnash Town Council supported the development but expressed concerns about how the development would impact access onto Heathcote Road.
WDC Environmental Protection Officer originally objected the plans over noice and light impact matters. However, 'following receipt of additional information and clarification, no objection is raised to the development subject to the imposition of conditions.'

WCC Archaeology expressed satisfaction that "the development is unlikely to have any significant archaeological impact so have no comments to make on this application."
Also WCC Ecology noted the ste will be subject to statutory biodiversity net gain.
Buildings were surveyed for bats at optimal time of year and no evidence of bats was found.
