Traffic management is set to remain in place around the A452, Europa Way, following a "successful trial".

Warwickshire County Council (WCC) has confirmed lane closures will remain in place from 9am to 4pm daily as the major roadworks programme continues.

"Traffic flow will continue to be monitored to limit congestion and keep traffic moving during the A452 Europa Way programme," the council said.

The local authority has also warned nighttime road closures will return in early July - from 8pm to 6am for around three weeks as resurfacing works take place in the north side of the scheme.

WCC said on Facebook that diversion routes will be clearly marked and shared soon.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead of their journeys and allow extra travel time.

The project is part of plans to increase road capacity on a major route between Warwick and Leamington, and was approved despite criticism that it favours motorists over cyclists and pedestrians.

Several pedestrian footpaths are also scheduled for temporary closure whilst work continues.

These include:

  • Princes Drive splitter island works - 30 April to 19 May 2025
  • Old Warwick Road Southeast footpath - 20 May to 10 June 2025
  • Princes Drive East footpath - 11 June to 31 July 2025

When completed, the scheme will see traffic signals at the two roundabouts, additional lanes, shared footway and dedicated off-carriageway cycle routes, and "enhanced crossing facilities to enable more effective and safer crossing of roads".

Due for completion in summer 2025, the project will "complement existing routes" and "create a corridor of connected cycling and walking links to help facilitate active travel".

It is expected that around 4,500 extra homes will be built in the area by 2029.

The Europa Way Improvement programme is being funded by through s106 and s278 agreements - money raised from housing developers.

The Local Growth Fund has also allocated £3.6 million in funding, administered by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
