MP for Warwick and Leamington Matt Western has commented on the recent news of reported delays to Leamington FC's community stadium.

This comes as Leamington Football Club may have to wait another six years for a new stadium, with further delays confirmed in a council report to be considered next week.

Responding to the news Mr Western said: "I'm concerned to read that fans may have to wait until 2031 to experience the new stadium. The community, club and fans have been waiting over a decade for this and rightly want to see progress on it."

He further expressed that the project has become "one of delays and inaction" adding that the council should now treat it with "the priority it deserves" and "vote it through at the meeting next week."

Additionally, Mr Western said the council should work towards opening the stadium in April 2029.

He said: "We must see real movement towards this quickly. 

"The benefits to the club, the community, local schools and other smaller clubs will be huge. It is too important to push any later down the line.  

"Let's get on with it and deliver this asset for our community" he said.
