More housing sites around Leamington and South Warwickshire have been put forward for consideration for the new local plan.

The major planning document will determine where around 35,000 new houses are built in the area over the next quarter century.

The latest submissions - published in June - came during a public consultation earlier this year during which locals were asked to feedback on a series of options for the South Warwickshire Local Plan (SWLP).

This third 'call for sites' only allowed locals to suggest development sites near the 12 potential 'new settlements' Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon District Councils have identified.

Locals could also put forward potential new gypsy and traveller sites as well as areas for commercial or community-led renewable energy generation.

The SWLP website shows various plots south of Leamington have been put forward.

Totalling over 525 acres, the sites have all been suggested for either housing or 'mixed' use.

They have been suggested by various companies including Godfrey Payton, Sheldon Bosley Knight, James Martindale Consultancy and Marrons.

In Kenilworth, a plot of land around Dalehouse Lane has also been suggested for more housing.

Currently farmland, the 15.75 acre area has been proposed by Newton LDP.

Elsewhere JPPC has put forward 666.66 acres of agricultural land around Hatton for 'mixed' use housing and employment space.

Huge swathes of land around the village have been put forward with the councils considering allocating over 8,000 homes to Hatton.

Nigel Gough Associates Ltd has put forward 25.72 acres of agricultural land at Claverdon for employment, industrial or commercial space.

Knight Frank has suggested 287.07 acres of agricultural land for mixed use around Kingswood.

And, an unnamed individual has suggested a 4.84 acre plot of grazing land at Old Park Farm off Wedgnock Lane in Warwick for 'mixed use' development.

As with the previous calls for sites, none of these spots will definitely be included in SWLP for building on.

The two councils are currently working to analyse the findings of the latest consultation.

After that the next version of the plan will be created and there will be another public consultation on this.

The next consultation is expected to take place at the end of 2025.

Already delayed, the SWLP will not be finished until the end of 2027 - providing the are no more hold ups.
