Meet the candidates: Whitnash

This week, locals will head to the polls to vote in their new councillors for Warwickshire County Council.
All 57 wards at the local authority are up for grabs, with voting opening on Thursday 1 May.
Results will then be announced on Friday 2 May, including all Warwick district wards.
We have asked each candidate why locals should trust them with their vote.
This is what the candidates for Whitnash said:
Judy Falp - Whitnash Residents Association
As a Whitnash Residents Association candidate, free from national party politics, I am seeking your vote to continue to represent our town on Warwickshire County Council.
Supported by a dedicated team of town and district councillors, I work to put Whitnash first, not party politics, in order to achieve the best outcome for Whitnash.
In these difficult times it is even more essential than ever that Whitnash is represented by an experienced councillor with a proven track record of dealing with the complex issues facing local government.
As a district councillor, I am now the longest serving female councillor.
I have sat on every committee during my time on that council and am group leader for the residents association.
As a past and present school governor I know the challenges for our local schools. I am very proud of all our schools in Whitnash, all have been rated good thanks to the dedication of the staff.
I have helped many residents with a range of issues, education, health, planning, police, roads and parking to name a few.
I cannot always resolve every issue but I will always try to assist. A few minutes of your time to vote for me, by post, proxy, or at the ballot box in person will help to ensure I look after your interests for the next four years, as I have the last eight years.
Make your voice for Whitnash heard and vote for the person and group that put Whitnash first.
Aidan Flaherty - Reform
Aidan Flaherty, the Reform UK candidate for Whitnash in the Warwickshire County elections on 1 May 2025, was born in Leamington Spa and raised in Warwick and Kenilworth.
Holding an Economics degree, he built a 25-year career in finance and private banking worldwide before returning to Leamington Spa in 2024.
Now working for a small family-owned brewery in Oxfordshire, he is driven to make a difference in his community.
Flaherty's priorities include establishing a community food bank and a community centre in Whitnash, reducing council tax, introducing free two-hour parking in Leamington and Warwick town centres, increasing community policing, and prioritising social housing and care for residents.

Ben Jackson - Conservative
Justine has lived in Leamington for over 10 years and previously attended school here too.
She has been a member of the Liberal Democrats for almost as long, impressed by the party's values and the hard work of local councillors who have excellent reputations for transparency, accessibility and getting things done.
County council services directly affect the lives of Whitnash residents.
Justine will focus on how Labour's local government reorganisation of our councils will impact the delivery of those services.
Whether it is education, social care or the roads, it matters who you choose at the ballot box on 1 May. Make sure it is a party that takes the time to listen and act - for your benefit.

Sarah Richards - Green
I'm standing because I want a strong Green voice for our area.
Existing Green councillors across Warwick district have worked hard for their area and successfully challenged the county council.
In the last six months alone they've stopped the Conservatives cutting youth clubs and library opening hours.
Working with others, they've also increased fly tipping enforcement and collection, added more funds to tackle antisocial behaviour and introduced soft plastics recycling.
Join so many people who are turning away from Labour and Conservative and looking for a positive option who will stand up for our area. Please vote Green on May 1.

Daniel Wilkinson - Labour
I'm Dan, your Labour & Cooperative candidate for Warwickshire County Council. I was born in Warwick and have lived in Warwickshire all my life.
I care deeply about our community and want to make Whitnash an even better place to live.
I've heard from so many of you about how frustrating and disruptive the fly and odour issue has been.
I'm committed to tackling this problem effectively and ensuring that it gets sorted.
We deserve a clean, healthy environment to live in, and I will fight for the action needed to solve this.
I'm committed to making a difference and will keep working tirelessly for our community. Together, we can bring about the change Whitnash deserves.
