The Mayor of Leamington hosted a special walk over the weekend, raising funds for her chosen charity, the Warwickshire Music Education Trust.

The Warwickshire Music Education Trust provides financial assistance to support music education for children and young people across Warwickshire, including funding for instruments, lessons and music projects.

Cllr Sarah Boad, hosted the Lillington History Walk on Sunday 27 September, which saw the one hour walk led by Peter Coulls and Margaret Rushton of the Lillington Local History Society, who shared their knowledge of the area and brought to life some of the stories behind Lillington's past.

Cllr Sarah Boad, Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa, said: "It was a pleasure to host the Lillington History Walk and to discover more about the history of the area. There are so many fascinating stories connect to Lillington and It was a wonderful opportunity for them to be shared.

"I would like to thank Peter and Margaret for leading the walk and sharing their knowledge, and everyone who came along and supported my chosen charity."

The walk explored significant locations include Midland Oak Park, Manor Farm, Lillington Church, Church Lane, Manor Road and Vicarage Road.

Participants heard about Lillington's origins as a farming community, its historic buildings and notable people and families connected with the area.

The history of Manor Farm, once one of Lillington's largest farms, was among the stories shared. Participants also heard about The Warren, which because a rehabilitation hospital for wounded servicemen during the First World War.
