A local Gurdwara has donated around £70,000 in support of Punjab flood relief efforts for 2025.

The donation made by Gurdwara Sahib Leamington and Warwick is to be split between two respected humanitarian organisations, The Kalgidhar Trust UK (Baru Sahib) and Midland Langar Seva Society (MLSS), in support of their critical relief efforts following the devastating 2025 floods in the state of Punjab, India.

The fundraising initiative, driven by the generosity of the Sikh Community, reflects the Gurdwara's commitment to seva (selfless service) and supporting vulnerable communities in times of crisis.

Supporting Flood-Affected Communities in Punjab

The severe flooding in Punjab in 2025 displaced countless families, damaged homes, and disrupted livelihoods across multiple districts. The funds provided by Gurdwara Sahib Leamington and Warwick will directly support emergency and ongoing relief work on the ground.

Gurdwara Sahib Leamington and Warwick's General Secretary, Jaswant Singh Virdee said: "We are humbled to donate £70,000 to support relief efforts in Punjab during this very difficult time. The sangat (congregation) has come together with immense compassion, and this contribution will provide real, meaningful help to families who have lost so much.

"We extend our deepest gratitude to Kalgidhar Trust and MLSS for their tireless service on the ground. A presentation from both charities will take place at our premises on Sunday 1 Feb 2026 at the morning service 10am onwards at Gurdwara Sahib Tachbrook Park Drive Leamington Spa CV34 6RH"

In response to the donation, Lakhwinder Singh from, Kalghidar Trust UK shared: "This support will make a significant difference to families struggling in the aftermath of the floods. We will ensure that every penny contributed to this campaign is utilised directly to support those families who have lost their livelihoods in this natural disaster. We are deeply grateful to Gurdwara Sahib Leamington and Warwick for their solidarity and generosity."
