Leamington's street lighting upgraded after campaign to fix failing lamps
By Nadia Sayed 2nd Mar 2026
The issue of repeated lamp failures along Leamington's Parade is now being addressed, with new heritage-style lighting installed over the weekend (1 March).
The lamps have been upgraded to '131' units, with the colour temperature switched from 4000K to a warmer 3000K.
The change is designed not only to improve reliability but also to create a softer, more welcoming feel along the town's main thoroughfare.
New lighting has also been installed on Church Walk in the town.
The improvements follow campaigning by the Leamington Society, which had raised concerns that the previous "standard" units were not suitable for the location, with one lamp reportedly obscured by a nearby tree.

Leamington Society said the new lights "perfectly match the iconic look of those in the Pump Room and Jephson Gardens" and thanked the teams involved for completing the work ahead of the maintenance contract deadline.
The society also expressed its gratitude to Cllr Max Langer of the Clarendon Liberal Democrats for raising the concerns, and to Cllr Jennifer Warren, Executive Member for Transport at Warwickshire County Council, for her role in helping secure a solution.
The group added: "We're looking forward to a brighter, safer and more welcoming Parade."
Residents are advised that a further road closure is planned for next Sunday (8 March) to allow work to continue.
