Leamington's Royal Pump Rooms closures announced as roof work progresses

Warwick District Council is progressing with essential roof repairs to the Grade II listed Royal Pump Rooms in Leamington Spa, thanks to significant funding from Arts Council England's MEND (Museum Estate and Development) programme.
This grant has saved the Council substantial repair costs and will ensure the long-term sustainability of one of the district's most iconic buildings.
The work, which is being delivered by local contractor Stepnell, is now reaching a crucial stage.
Cllr Ella Billiald, Portfolio Holder for Arts, Culture and Economy, said: "We appreciate that these planned closures may cause inconvenience, but safety must always come first. Thanks to Arts Council England's support, we are securing the future of the Royal Pump Rooms for generations to come.
"This is short-term disruption for a long-term gain, and we thank residents and visitors for their patience and understanding."
To safely install new Air Handling Units on the roof, specialist lifting equipment will be required. For public safety, this means that the Royal Pump Rooms will be subject to a series of planned full-day closures:
• Monday 6 October
• Monday 13 October
• Monday 20 October
• Monday 27 October
• Monday 1 December
On these dates, Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum, Warwickshire County Council's Library, and Warwick District Council's Customer Service Centre will be closed.
The Larder Café, however, will remain open and accessible from the Parade entrance, opposite Jephson Gardens.
The Council's Customer Service phone lines will be unaffected and are available from 8.45 am to 5.15pm.
Due to the use of cranes and the need for still weather conditions, these dates remain subject to change at short notice.
Members of the public are therefore strongly advised to check for live updates before planning a visit.
